What IndiGo BluChips is

BluChips is IndiGo’s loyalty currency. You earn BluChips by flying IndiGo, booking through IndiGo channels, spending on co-branded credit cards, and using some everyday partners such as dining or hotel links when those offers are active.

This is not the same product as transferable airline miles like Avios or Maharaja Points. BluChips mainly come back as IndiGo flight value and selected 6E add-ons. If you fly IndiGo often, that can still be a clean domestic play.

How to join

1. Enrol free on IndiGo’s website or app under the loyalty or BluChips section.
2. Keep your name and contact details consistent with your booking profile.
3. Log in before you book so the flight can earn.
4. If you already hold an IndiGo co-brand card, link or create the same loyalty profile so card earn and flight earn sit together cleanly.

Membership tiers

BluChips uses a simple three-tier ladder. Higher tiers mainly improve bonus earn and discounts on selected add-ons. Thresholds below follow commonly published programme rules and can change.

• Base earn on eligible IndiGo flights is often discussed as about 8 BluChips per ₹100 on base fare and fuel surcharge style components.
• Booking on the IndiGo website or app can add a channel bonus on top of base earn.
• Higher tiers add more BluChips per ₹100 on IndiGo flights, codeshares, and some add-ons.
• Seat select, excess baggage, and Fast Forward style services may get tier discounts.
• Some tiers also discuss 6E Prime Pass style benefits. Confirm what is live in your account.

How you earn BluChips

• Flying IndiGo on eligible fares, especially when booked direct.
• Co-branded credit cards from partners such as Kotak, IDFC FIRST, SBI, Axis, and earlier HDFC 6E Rewards style products. Earn rates differ by card and category.
• Selected dining and food partners when the offer is active.
• Selected hotel or activity partners linked through IndiGo channels.
• Nominee bookings: you can usually add nominees so flights booked under your account still earn for you.

How to redeem

• Redeem BluChips for IndiGo flights, often with a cash-plus-BluChips option.
• Selected 6E add-ons such as seat selection, extra baggage, or Fast Forward may accept BluChips or tier discounts.
• A minimum BluChip balance is usually required before redemption.
• BluChips are typically for one-way IndiGo bookings. Round-trip, multi-city, codeshare, student or senior discounted fares, taxes, and convenience fees are common exclusions.
• Do not stack redemptions with every voucher or co-brand discount without reading the booking rules.

Expiry, nominees, and pooling

• BluChips are often described as lasting about 24 months from earn, with activity helping keep the balance alive. Confirm the live expiry rule in your account.
• Family pooling in the classic miles sense is usually not available.
• You can typically add up to five nominees so bookings made through your account still credit you.
• Keep one loyalty profile. Duplicate accounts make missing credit harder to fix.

Practical tips

• If most of your flights are IndiGo domestically, BluChips can beat collecting international miles you never redeem.
• If you want long-haul premium awards, prefer transferable programmes such as Maharaja Club, Avios, or KrisFlyer instead of forcing BluChips to do that job.
• Book direct when the channel bonus matters and the fare is otherwise equal.
• Track co-brand welcome vouchers and fee waivers carefully. Unused BluChip vouchers are a common waste.
• For business travel, confirm whether your company booking channel still earns BluChips.

Common beginner mistakes

• Treating BluChips like transferable Star Alliance or Avios miles.
• Buying a co-brand card for the welcome offer without checking annual fee and category caps.
• Trying to redeem on round-trip or codeshare itineraries that the rules block.
• Ignoring add-on discounts that may be more useful than stretching a tiny BluChip balance.
• Letting the balance go inactive until expiry reminders arrive too late.
